Highfill reviewing budgets for 2010

The town council reviewed a proposed budget presented by Highfill Mayor Chris Holland at its Nov. 10 council meeting and held a work session with department heads on Thursday to see if there were other cuts which could be made to the proposed budget before it is brought back to the council at its December meeting.

Coffee still hot in Gentry despite the cool economy

Though economic times may be a bit tough, two Gentry gourmet coffee shops are still brewing a variety of specialty coffees for local residents.

I really can’t say enough good things about our local 4-H programs. The 4-H clubs and activities are nothing but a positive influence on the local children and youth who participate, teaching them ethics, work values and skills which will be of benefit to them for a lifetime.

The way in which the town of Highfill calculates charges for its water customers may soon change if a new ordinance is passed when it comes back to the council at its December meeting.

Town council members approved two major purchases for Highfill at the Nov. 10 council meeting — a compact tractor with attachments and a new police vehicle.

Council approves more tuck-pointing at library

Curve on Highway 12 at East Dawnhill Road troublesome for unwary truckers

The curve on Arkansas Highway 12 at East Dawn Hill Road, just east of Gentry, was the scene of two accidents in less than a week involving tractor-trailer rigs.
